Another Secret Revealed!

Another Secret Revealed!

An important part of the Ebony Gold Education Courses, an educated heart is often attached to an open, receptive mind.

The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Dream Life..

10 Jul

As my students come to me, many of them have little belief in what exactly their strengths are. They often lack confidence and don’t know what they can achieve or how to use it in life. Without these key ingredients , it is quite hard to focus on the end game. The end game, in the Ebony Gold Education view and also the Codey Learns view is not only success in qualifications but also in confidence, self esteem and emotional intelligence. These all lead to the life that you want, it puts you more in charge of the process, journey and outcome. Today I am giving you part 1 of the method delivered to students. I hope you get involved, it’s quite an interesting exercise.

The Secrets Behind gaining Killer Confidence.

1. Write down 10 positive things you love about yourself.
This is so important as we are living in a world in which we are encouraged not to look at ourselves in this way. There is nothing wrong with knowing what you do well though. This will not make you less humble. I have included:
1.I am tall and elegant.
2. I have nice eyes that sparkle.
3. I have 2 beautiful children.
4. I am kind with a big heart.
5. I love to teach

I could go on and on….. They are small things but I feel great about them. Lets see what you have.

2. Now write down 10 positive things about your environment. Do you live in a great street?,have you got fabulous neighbours?….

3. Write down 5 reasons you feel secure everyday. An example might be that you speak to your mom daily.

4. Can you really laugh at yourself when you do something silly? Personally, I love to laugh and many times a day! My daughter shakes her head at me so many times. It’s liberating and you won’t so much mind others joining in.

5. Think about at least one way everyday in which you can show kindness to another. This is humbling but beneficial and will really add to your day and someone else’s too. Chances are they will pass on the favour too.

This is the first step on that ladder and you may find it difficult to start. I do promise you though, that once you start in earnest, you will begin to realise what a fabulously unique person you are and what you have to contribute.

Next time we will start to have a look at part 2. Confidence is key folks, love yourself first and love for others and from others will follow. A little change can mean a lot!Change-your-look-at-life

Speak soon. Stay safe, keep smiling and enjoy the sun. 😀 xx

What The Real Housewives of Atlanta can teach you about Confidence and Dreams

3 Jul

My goodness, we all have dreams but somehow life today has a tendency towards making most people believe that they will not happen , that this is all there is. Not me! I live my life in a way which is full of confidence and belief in myself. Part of this is because I don’t focus on the bad bits that have passed, but on the great things and fabulosity of today. That is so necessary for a peaceful and happy mind. There is also the fact that a peaceful mind is needed in order to solve any of life’s hiccups that may come. I instill this ethos in my children and my students and the results are there to see already so far we have 95% A to C in exams.

i would say that my beliefs in dreams, faith and confidence are a big part of my belief in those Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) for me, they are compelling viewing. Before you say it, yes they argue and sometimes it seems unnecessary but such strong, determined women who are actually up and out there achieving. Kandi is so fantastic with her drive but remains grounded and wanting to help others rising through the ranks, that is me all over. My students, my colleagues and anyone with the ambition will get that hand to dream big with Codey Learns. It has to be said too, Ne Ne Leakes from stripper to Hollywood, I salute you! Phaedra Parks is too funny but has the heart of a lioness. I love, love, love Kim, she is funny and has the kind of faith and belief that I have. Her happiness and love for her family is fantastic its me right through.

There is no doubt that these women are embracing life as we all should and life is embracing them back. We can all have that kind of embrace by being able to recognise what an amazing world this is. All things are possible with faith and belief.

I grew up on Oprah and I remain a fan, now I’m a fan of the housewives. I was told this week by my very good friend of 31 years Ms Janis Barnett that i inspired her, that she is ready to go out there and find her happy, her own thing! I’m so proud of her! This world will give to those whose minds are at peace and are ready to go get it! Confidence and Faith are key.

So my message is this the RHOA show everyday what confidence and self belief can lead to. Always try to see the bright side and keep spreading that sparkle wherever you go. Then sit back from it a little and watch the magic start, believe me you will move in for more. And what’s more, I want my students of all ages to feel this belief as soon as possible, that’s why Codey Learns will continue to offer this. The Good Old Days?

21 Jun

Wow what a week. It’s been such a whirlwind of activity. Non stop but how fabulous, my glass is always half full. What is more is that I get a great feeling of the fabulous people I have in my life. I am blessed and living in this moment in every way. This led to my thinking about the ‘old’ days. In reality, do we just create a romantic view of them because they were when we were young and ‘carefree’.

Walking out with my son this morning, I took a deep breath. There was a mere hint of sunshine but it was warm and the blue in the sky was trying its best to peek through. It felt so peaceful that I started to smile and couldn’t really stop. Didn’t want to stop. I was thinking that life really can be all that you want it to be. In that moment, I felt like my children could be safe and carefree and that is what is so important for me.

I do think that the speed with which the world turns these days has left people quite breathless. Many don’t have an outlet for the breathlessness of it all and that spills over into unnecessary confrontation. You see it everyday because I dropped my son off at child are and there it was, a man and woman throwing punches at each other on the main road as passers by stopped to watch. I just can’t. That sort of thing scares me for me and makes me want to hold my children closer rather than letting them grow.

But summer is coming,a time of year which should have more smiles than any other. In my view every year gets better because every year I learn more about how to live in that peace that I have found. My children make me laugh everyday and, as they grow and learn fill me with a new breathlessness, one of pride. Everyday I know I have found my happy.

And with summer comes summer workshops. I met two fantastic young ladies whilst writing my next book in the coffee shop yesterday. They are running a summer scheme, free to young people with mental health issues. What a worthy cause. They are called No Ball Games Allowed (www.noballgamesallowed.com, @noballgamesall). That will be a fantastic scheme, guaranteed with such enthusiastic and inspired leaders.

The Codey Learns summer school will be running too. More detail to follow.

I hope that more people can begin to see how great today is. It is as good as or even better than the good old days. I found my happy and I hope y’all can too.

See you all next week. Stay safe and keep smiling 😀imageimage

Celebrating my Students 2013

Celebrating my Students 2013

We had a lovely GCSE Revision Day today. Students from different schools came together and worked towards that common goal. It was a joy to behold! I wish them well for the exams and beyond. This is the beauty of teaching, happy, confident student faces.

Other Environmental Issues

27 May

if we really stop and think, we are all pretty well educated on the need to alter our practices in order to save the planet. The majority of us will recycle, shut off energy when not in use and other means of preserving the natural environment. With this being so, I don’t understand why the message does not translate as well about changing our practices to preserve our relationships between fellow citizens of this earth. When we look at the events of the last few weeks on the streets, it is so sad.it makes me question what lesson has fallen by the way side that has led to people not being able to talk and instead doing these awful things. Emotional intelligence is so important for any society.

So the next question must be, when is the best time to start this education, you know, to make the most impact? Ideally, it would be from birth. As parents, we would like to think that we educate our children to listen, ask questions and act in a kind, humane way. This makes such a difference and you can see this in many people. Lets say for argument sake though, that the lessons don’t hit home at the first attempt. Surely then the best times for these lessons are everyday of our lives.

A kind word, a loving thought, a smile even. All of these things can only be returned positively. They can change a whole day. The truth is everyone has things happening in their life that no-one knows about, and life can seem a lonely place. You know I learned that from experience. As I said last week, there were times when I felt like there was no way forwards. Thankfully, I was caught early by Miss Elaine Carabin, I was 14 and worked since then on looking in front of me and living for now. In many ways, my future as an educationalist started with Miss Carabin. Not everyone is as lucky though. They do not have someone to really help them to sort out their feelings, their passions, their fears. Sometimes what is needed is a way of channeling feelings until a positive response is reached.

I have dedicated my business to teaching students of all ages to get to this. A point where they can recognise opportunities, have confidence, recognise that everyone contributes in this world and whilst sometimes its hard to understand, a positive response with love stirred in will always be most effective. The message is clearer.

The level of hatred displayed in our world everyday says clearly that there is another environmental issue that needs work. Let this week be one in which we start to recycle those bad feelings and start to love again. Let this be the week that if someone, no matter how old or young needs to talk, we try to listen and hear. Lets work towards having not just a clean sustainable earth but great love in the hearts of its inhabitants. In reality we need both. My heart is with all of those affected by the Woolwich Tragedy and indeed around the world.

I will be smiling and saying good morning as I go about my days this week as always. If you don’t, just try it, the day feels that much better for it. Have a good week. 😀

The Seasonal Change

13 May

image

It’s been a week of happiness and breakthroughs. I don’t know if it is because it is getting warmer and sunnier but it is so great when the smiles on faces around me get more frequent and lasting. Last week I spoke of the student who lacked confidence on such a level that I caught tears in her eyes. How great it was this week after a few more days working with her when she literally bounced into the classroom last Thursday with a smile which I swear hit both ears! The enthusiasm was like, wow! Suddenly, she has realised that she can have it too, happiness , contentment and all the things she wants. She seems to have discovered her inner confidence and is ready to use it. Now that’s what I’m talking about!

It is a state of mind that I wish for so many people. It is difficult sometimes to see all of the wonderful things happening around us, I know this as much as anyone else. Sometimes it takes others to point it out to us but I discovered much to my joy that there is no shame in seeing It for myself. We as a society, as a world community, don’t celebrate our positives quite enough.

Can you even imagine what a wonderful sight it would be if people recognised that everyone has something to give, something that is needed and wanted. The happiness it would bring to the world would be a thing to behold. This is why I will always be a big fan of John Lennon, he had vision, as did Martin Luther King and so many inspirational others. We actually don’t need to fight over anything. There is plenty for everyone and it comes in so many different flavours too. My students are seeing this now and I couldn’t be more pleased.

I wish you a week of all the flavours of happy you would want. Taste it, it’s lovely! See you next week 😀
